The short story of Prevoznici.com began in February 2015. We had the idea to create a transportation marketplace based on auctions, which would be the same concept as the well-known US company uship.
MVP was supposed to have transportation providers listings with profiles, without auction and payments system. We finished the development of MVP in just a few days by using a WordPress theme. Then we added around 50 transporters and created a great services/location url structure and descriptions for SEO. Moreover, we created a marketing strategy, and the product was launched in less than 30 days.
We started doing SEO and Facebook promotion. In Serbia, there is a lot of competition on Google, but there are only a few good websites with quality back links. So, when it comes to SEO in Serbia, we use a tactic that we know works, and this tactic is mass link building on relevant sources, forums, comments, guest blogs and partnerships.
We were able to rank well within just one month of link building, and those rankings kept getting better. We also invested a small amount of money into Facebook ads and got great results in terms of likes and engagement with our audience. We wanted to turn this boring transportation niche into a laughter, and we achieved this goal.
We soon found out that this market was too small for us, and that we would not make money in this niche, so we gave up on marketing and on developing other features on the website.
